Moral Civil War

There is a moral civil war taking place in our country.  It started decades ago.  I believe that the “Fort Sumter” moment that precipitated it was when many of our churches compromised the truth of God’s Word, thereby providing a green light to the many haters of God and the Bible to openly live lives of sin and debauchery.  In order to validate their sinful behavior, unbelievers have decided that they have the right to re-define right and wrong, even going so far as to get their version of “right” protected by law (even though it opposes the truth of the Bible).  Though they have been warned by Isaiah 5:20, “Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil…” they foolishly have no fear of God and His righteous judgment to come.

Unfortunately, many of those who claim to be Christians have joined the unsaved chorus who claim the right to individually define absolute truth.  God will not be mocked by this.  He has already defined absolute truth in His Bible and He is the only one qualified to do so, especially since He is the one who established the truth.  In fact, truth is His very essence.  In John 14:6, Jesus said, “…I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

God’s truth, which is the only valid truth, contains consequences for violating that truth.  Some are immediate and some are served at a later time.  For example, God created gravity.  He established the truth and the character of gravity.  Even the most rebellious person is reluctant to defy the truth of gravity since they know that there is an immediate harmful or deadly consequence for doing so (though those who are involved in extreme sports don’t seem to care).     

Genesis 5:2 states, “He created them male and female.”  However, there are those who believe (or pretend to believe) that they have the right to decide their gender.  They are bold in doing this because, unlike violating God’s gravity-truth, they don’t anticipate any immediate gender-truth consequences.  However, any person declaring that they have the right to determine their gender, or anything else that is contrary to reality or God’s truth, is not telling or living the truth.  What are the consequences?  Revelation 21:8 states, “But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”  In other words, defying God’s truth is the same thing as living a lie.

​Many years ago, I traded my incorrect version of the truth in favor of God’s truth, and I hope you have, too.  God’s truth (the Bible) clearly states that salvation of the soul can only be obtained through Jesus Christ.  It’s the only way to get to heaven.   If you haven’t accepted Christ as your Savior, I invite you to confess that you are a sinner (Romans 3:23) and place your faith and trust in Jesus today (Romans 10:9,10).  The truth is, you need Him!  We all do.
